Failure of equipment or energy supply will happen so backup oxygen is a must.  Planning for these events is paramount when designing your system.  One of the core functions of Aquaculture Engineers, is to mitigate against risks.  Backup Oxygen supply is the best protection a farm can have.

Generally we will have a backup generator as a rule, which prevents losses on the farm from power loss.  However, we have seen where the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) on the generator fails to detect the change or loss in power.  Every farm must have an oxygen back up system in place and tested often.

A backup oxygen system at home is very basic and inexpensive to set up in comparison to the losses of fish that will happen when failure happens.  However, they are nothing like the one below… They have some important functions and some handy uses during operations.
